Ray's Review style
As I am about to post my first official review I feel it is necessary to outline my review style.
I am almost always of two minds when I watch a film. The optimist in me looks for all the good elements and does his absolute best to just let go and get into what the filmmakers have presented me with.
While the cynic in me is rolling his eyes and noticing all the areas the film could have improved in. I do my best to avoid the cynic talking to me during the film but sometimes it is impossible to ignore.
Hence my reviews will be divided into two sections, The Optimist and The Cynic.
When I read reviews I almost always skip the beginning of the review - the part that details the plot. I find it is very, very rare that I do not already know the plot from either reading endlessly about the film online or already having most of it given away in the trailer. So don't expect to see large paragraphs dedicated to explaining plot here, unless it seems necessary.
Well, seeing as Sixdollarman raised the topic of War of the Worlds that seems like as good a place as any to begin with a review.
Fantastic 4 just came out today so I think I'll go and see that first. The trailers make it seem pretty light weight, I hope it at least has some solid action scenes. Who knows it may be a pleasant surprise? I feel like I'm off to see a new superhero film every few weeks these days!
